We won’t lie, this is a tough one.

It can be so frustrating when you keep losing out on properties because you’re in a chain or worse still, the new home you’re trying to buy falls through because of a problem with your own sale.

If this keeps happening it is worth considering the following options:

• only accept offers from first time buyers or those not in a chain even if that’s not the highest offer

• sell first and get a short term let whilst then looking for a new place to buy
